It's a drag when you already have a logo, and can't use it on large banners, to embroider shirts or on marketing promotional items such as pens or stress balls because the only logo you have on file is too small to print and not a vector logo!

Your company may have never had a vector graphic because they hired a graphic designer that believed the vector logo belonged to them, and that any time the company wanted a new promotional item the designer should be able to charge another fee. However, a good graphic artist will never hold your vector logo hostage! We always provide the original unflattened vector logo at the end of a logo recreation project.

What is a vector logo?

A vector logo is a vector image. Vector images are created by high-end drawing software such as Adobe Illustrator and is the industry standard for any graphic design project. Vector graphics are scalable and editable images in their rawest form that allow you to make minor changes to your logo such as deleting a line or a drop shadow (without having to recreate your logo from scratch). Even more importantly, a vector logo gives you the freedom to print your logo on any kind of medium at any size (think big - even billboards, should you need to someday down the road). Common vector file formats include .EPS, .AI and .CDW.

Why do I need a vector logo?

Vector logos make it easier to work with printers and get the finished product that you want, whether that’s a large sign, an embroidered shirt or a promotional pen with your logo on it. Also, if you have a vector logo you are free to use any graphic designer for any print, web, animation or promotional piece you might have and they will not have to recreate your logo or hack the logo you already have to make it work. That means you pay a designer less because the process will be simpler and take less time.

How can I get a copy of my logo packaged as a vector graphic?

You can do one of three things to have your raster or bitmap logo converted to a vector logo.

1. You can hire a trustworthy vector graphic designer to do a one-time job to convert your logo to vector. We even have a low-cost package for customers that already have a logo they want to use but need it converted to vector. We are able to charge less because the logo is already created, and we don’t have to redesign anything. Prices start at $130.00.

2. If you have experience using vector programs you can recreate your logo. I prefer to use Adobe Illustrator to make my vector art for many reasons. However, if you do not have much experience using a vector graphic design software you may become overwhelmed quickly because they have many advanced features that may not be intuitive to learn on the fly.

3. The last option is the quickest solution, but not necessarily the best. If you need a really quick fix you can use image tracing software (such as VectorMagic) that will give you a vector version of your original raster or bitmap image. However, the vector software traces will not give you great results. You will need to use your vector logo on many marketing materials, and you need it to look professional. It really takes a human eye to trace or recreate a logo the way it should be traced or recreated. We are picky when it comes to converting raster or bitmap logs to a vector logo. Your company logo's appearance and color is important. This software does not perfectly convert curves or other shapes to vector. It does a nice job if you don't know too much about vector graphics and you don't know what to look for. You'll begin to realize the problems with using a vector tracing software the more your eye becomes trained. If you already have a your logo converted to vector using a tracing software you'll notice the imperfections the larger you scale your logo.
